Hey! If you’re here, maybe you’re like me just a 12th pass kid trying to figure out life and dreaming of a police job. I’ve been down that road, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride! I’m no expert, but I’ve learned a bunch from my own ups and downs, and I want to spill it all for you. This is my story how I went from clueless to chasing constable vacancies, with all the sweat and hope that came with it.
Where It All Started
So, I finished 12th grade back in 2022. Got okay marks nothing fancy, but enough to keep my parents off my back. One day, my uncle dropped by. He’s a constable at our town’s police station, and man, he looked cool in that uniform. He was chatting about catching some petty thieves, and I thought, “That could be me!” A government job, good pay, and helping people? I was sold. But I had no idea how to even start.
I asked him, “Can a 12th pass guy like me join the police?” He laughed and said, “Of course! Constable jobs are perfect for you.” That was it I was hooked.
Figuring Out What’s Possible
I didn’t know much, so I started asking around. My uncle said there are tons of police jobs for 12th pass folks like me State Police, CRPF, BSF, stuff like that. Every year, states like UP, Punjab, or Karnataka need thousands of constables. I didn’t believe it at first, but he was right. I just had to find them.
I grabbed an old diary and scribbled down what I needed to qualify:
- School: 12th pass check! No degree needed for constable posts.
- Age: They want you between 18 and 25, sometimes 28. I was 19 then, so I was safe.
- Body Stuff: Height’s gotta be around 5’5” or more for guys, less for girls. I’m 5’7”, so I figured I’d pass. Chest measurement for guys too mine was okay, I guess.
- Running: You’ve got to run and jump in tests. I wasn’t fit, but I thought I could work on it.
It felt good knowing I could try, but the running part? That scared me. I hadn’t run since school sports day!

Hunting for Jobs
Next, I had to find these vacancies. I didn’t have a laptop, just my beat-up phone with a cracked screen. Here’s how I did it:
- Newspapers: My dad gets the paper every day. I started flipping to the job ads. One time, I saw Punjab Police needed 1746 constables deadline was March 2025. I tore that page out and kept it!
- Websites: My friend Ravi, who’s good with tech, showed me sites like punjabpolice.gov.in and ksp.karnataka.gov.in. I’d sit at a cyber café and check them. Took forever with slow internet, but I found stuff.
- Job Sites: I found freejobalert.com one night while scrolling. It lists police jobs from everywhere. I’d check it when I had data.
- People: My uncle heard about a local recruitment camp once and told me. Talking to folks helped a lot.
I remember seeing something about Karnataka Police planning 20,000 jobs in 2025. I got so excited I almost dropped my phone!
Applying What a Mess!
Applying was tough. Most stuff’s online now, and I’m no computer whiz. For that Punjab job, I went to the website. Found the “Apply Here” button after ages. I had to type my name, 12th marks, address all that. My hands were sweaty, and the café guy kept rushing me. Uploaded my marksheet photo almost forgot that part. Paid ₹500 with my dad’s card (he wasn’t thrilled, but he let me).
I hit submit, and my heart was pounding. Got an email saying “Registered!” with a number. I wrote it down in my diary so I wouldn’t lose it. Once, I typed my phone number wrong, but I fixed it just in time. Phew!
Getting Ready for the Hard Part
After applying, I knew the real stuff was coming exams and running. My uncle gave me some old papers. The written test had:
- GK: History, states, news I was bad at this, but I read the paper more.
- Math: Easy stuff like sums and fractions. I practiced with my old 10th book.
- Reasoning: Weird puzzles. Took me days to get them.
- Language: Punjabi for that job. I’m okay at it, so I just brushed up.
I’d study after dinner, maybe 2 hours. For running, I started jogging near my house. The test needed 1.6 km in 6 minutes. First time, I stopped after 5 minutes, panting like a dog. But I kept at it every morning, even when it rained. Push-ups? I did them on the floor till my arms hurt.
The Big Day
Waiting for the admit card was torture. It came online two weeks before the exam. I printed it at the café cost me ₹10. Exam day was wild tons of people, all nervous. I sat there, pen shaking, but I finished. Didn’t do amazing, but I passed!
Physical test was next. Ran in the sun felt like my lungs were on fire. Almost fell during the jump, but I made it. When I saw my name on the list later, I ran home yelling. My mom thought I’d gone nuts!
Stuff I Wish I Knew
Man, I made mistakes. Here’s what I’d tell my past self:
- Don’t Wait: Apply for everything you see. I missed a CRPF job once ‘cause I was lazy.
- Get Fit Now: Running last-minute sucks. Start early.
- Keep Looking: Jobs pop up and vanish fast. Check sites all the time.
- Talk: My uncle saved me with tips. Ask people!
Jobs I’ve Seen Lately
It’s April 2025 now, and I’m still looking. Here’s what’s out there:
- Punjab Police: 1746 constable posts closed last month.
- Karnataka Police: Big talk of 20,000 jobs soon. I’m watching ksp.karnataka.gov.in.
- Telangana: Saw some constable posts on tspolice.gov.in recently.
Every state’s got something if you dig around.
Why I Love This Dream
Why police? It’s not just money starts at ₹21,000 or so, goes up with time. It’s steady, you get respect, and a pension later. Plus, I want to help people, like my uncle does. Makes me feel proud.
You Can Do It Too
If you’re 12th pass like me, don’t think it’s over. Police jobs are real, and they’re for us. Check your state’s police site, or just ask someone. Get your marksheet, ID, and a photo ready. Study a bit, run a lot. It’s hard, but when you make it, it’s awesome.
I’m still trying hoping to wear that uniform soon. Maybe you’ll be out there with me. Keep going, okay?
