Educational Qualification Code  For NEET UG 2023

  • NEET UG Code 01: A candidate who is appearing in the qualifying examination, i.e., 12 Standard in 2022 whose result is awaited may apply and take up the said test but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the MBBS or BDS, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required pass percentage of marks at the time of first round of Counseling.
  • NEET UG Code 02 : The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.
  • NEET UG Code 03 : The Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology (which shall include practical test in these subjects) and also English as a compulsory subject
  • NEET UG Code 04 : The Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination with Physics ,Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology & English after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an equivalent examination. The Pre-professional/Pre-medical examination shall include practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject.
  • NEET UG Code 05 : The first year of the three years’ degree course of a recognized University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology including practical tests in these subjects provided the examination is a University Examination and candidate has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-Technology with English at a level not less than a core course.
  • NEET UG Code 06 : B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Bio-technology and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
  • NEET UG Code 07: Any other examination which in scope and standard (Last 02 years of 10+2 Study
    comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology; which shall include
    practical test in these subjects) is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science
    Examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and
    Biology/Biotechnology including practical tests in each of these subjects and English.

Eligibity For NEET UG BAMS / BSMS / BUMS / BHMS Course

  • The candidate shall have passed Class 12 or its equivalent examination from any recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and shall have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the case of general category and 40% Marks in the case of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.

About NTA NEET UG 2023 

  • The NEET (UG) is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2019 with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (which is now known as the Ministry of Education), in pursuance of the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India vide Judgement dated 22.11. 2018 in C.A. No. 11230 of 2018 in the matter of CBSE Vs. T.K. Rangarajan & Ors. (Para 22).

  • As per Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, the NEET (UG) has to be conducted as a common and uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test [(NEET (UG)] for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions. Similarly, as per Section 14 of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, there shall be a uniform NEET (UG) for admission to undergraduate courses in each of the disciplines i.e. BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS courses of the Indian System of Medicine in all Medical Institutions governed under this Act. NEET (UG) shall also be applicable to admission to BHMS course as per National Commission for Homeopathy Act, 2020.

NEET UG 2023 NTA Role

  • The NEET (UG) – 2023 is going to be conducted by NTA as per the Schedule given in the Information at a Glance for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS Courses under the medical institutions governed as per the relevant norms/guidelines/regulations notified by the concerned Regulatory Bodies under the NCISM Act, 2020 and NCH Act, 2020.

NEET UG 2023 Syllabus And Exam Pattern

  • NMC (National Medical Commission) has notified the syllabus of NEET (UG) – 2023. The Question Paper will be based on the given syllabus (Appendix-III) which is available on the NMC website (https://www.nmc.org.in/neet/neet-ug). Furthermore, to rationalize the decision of reduction in the syllabus by various School Education Boards, the NTA has taken a decision to provide choice in Section “B” for each of the 4 (four) Subjects.

  • The Test pattern of NEET (UG) – 2023 comprises four Subjects. Each subject will consist of two sections. Section A will consist of 35 Questions and Section B will have 15 Questions, out of these 15 Questions, candidates can choose to attempt any 10 Questions. So, the total number of questions and utilization of time will remain the same. The pattern for the NEET (UG) – 2023 Examination for admission in the Session 2023-24 is as follows:

  • Duration of Test : 03 hours and 20 minutes.
  • Type of Questions : MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions).
  • Important Note: Correct option marked will be given (4) marks and Incorrect option marked will be minus one (-1) mark. Unattempt/ Unanswered Questions will be given no marks.

NEET UG 2023 Examination Mode

  • NEET (UG) – 2023 is a Pen & Paper-based Test, to be answered on the specially designed machine gradable OMR sheet using Ball Point Pen is provided at the Centre. Moreover tampering with the OMR at any stage will lead to debarring of the candidature for 03 years.

NEET UG 2023 Test Duration

  • The duration of the test would be three (03) hours and 20 minutes. Compensatory time of one hour five minutes for examination of three hours twenty minutes (03:20 hrs) duration for PwBD Candidate [having a physical limitation to write] will be given, whether such candidate uses the facility of Scribe or not.

  • Drawing from the National Education Policy (NEP), the NEET (UG) -2023 is being conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu

  1. Option of medium of Question Paper should be carefully chosen while filling in the Application Form. The option once chosen cannot be changed.
  2. Candidates opting for English/ Hindi/ Regional Languages would be provided Test Booklet in English + Hindi + selected Regional Language.
  3. For Example: If a candidate opted Tamil (out of 13 languages), the Test Booklet would be provided in English + Hindi + Tamil.
  4. In case of any ambiguity in the translation of a question in the test, its English version shall be treated as final and the decision of NTA shall be final in this regard.
  5. Candidates qualifying for NEET (UG) – 2023 would be eligible for All India Quota and other quotas under the State Governments/Institutes, irrespective of the medium of the examination, subject to other eligibility criteria.

NEET UG 2023 Admit Card Notification

  • The Admit Card is issued provisionally to the candidates, subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility conditions.

  • The candidate has to download the Admit Card from the NTA website (https://neet.nta.nic.in/) and appear for the Examination at the given Centre on the Date and timing as indicated in their Admit Card.

  • No candidate will be allowed to appear at the Examination Centre, on the Date and Timing other than that allotted to him/her in his / her Admit Card.

  • In case a candidate is unable to download his/ her Admit Cards from the website, he or she may approach the Help Line between 10:00 am to 05.00 pm or write an email to NTA at neet@nta.ac.in

  • The candidates are advised to read the instructions given in this Information Bulletin as well as on the Admit Card carefully and follow them scrupulously during the conduct of the examination.

  • In case of any discrepancy in the particulars of the candidate or his/her photograph and signatures shown in the Admit Card and Confirmation Page, the candidate may immediately approach the Help Line between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. In such cases, candidates would appear in the Examination with the already downloaded Admit Card. However, NTA will take necessary action to make corrections in the record later.

Important Note For NEET UG 2023 Admit Card

  1. The candidate may note that Admit Card will not be sent by post.

  2. In no case, the duplicate Admit Card for NEET (UG)-2023 would be issued at the Examination Centers
  3. The candidate must not mutilate the Admit Card or change any entry made therein
  4. Candidates are advised to preserve their Admit Card in good condition for future reference.
  5. No Admit Card shall be issued to the candidates whose Applications are found to be incomplete for any reasons (including indistinct/ doubtful photographs/unsigned Applications) or who do not fulfill the eligibility criteria for the examination.
  6. Issue of Admit Card, however, shall not necessarily mean acceptance of eligibility which shall be further scrutinized at subsequent stages of the admission process.
